Romania Mission Trip 2007
Bob Patty and Pam Souther joined Young Brock from Ringgold, Georgia and Alan Ridley from Atlanta, Georgia on a mission trip to western Romania August 21-30, 2007. The trip from Chattanooga to the villages in Romania took approximately 26 hours and we finally got in bed about 3:00 AM local time on Thursday August 23rd. In addition to the length of travel time, Romania is 7 hours ahead of Chattanooga so there is jet lag to contend with as your body tries to adjust to their time zone.
We worked in 6 different villages during the 5 days we stayed at our host family's home. Each day we had a morning children's meeting similar to Vacation Bible School from 9:00 AM until noon. We ate lunch and then visited people and witnessed to them in the village which we were working that day from about 2:00 PM until about 4:00 PM. We would return to our host family's home for the day, change clothes and prepare for the evening church service which took place from 7-8:30 or 9:00 PM. We ate supper after the evening service either at a home in the village we worked in, or after we returned to our host family's home where we slept each night. We spent the final full day in Romania visiting old friends in other villages where we had worked in previous years. We then travelled from the village of Capalnas Romania to Arad where we boarded a train to ride to Budapest Hungary. We spent one night in Budapest and went to the airport very early the next morning to begin our flights back home. We arrived back in Chattanooga about 9:30 on Thursday August 31st where we had to deal with jet lag once again. God blessed us with no flight delays. Our luggage arrived the same time we did both ways across the Atlantic Ocean and we praise Him for all He did during the trip.
Below are some pictures from the trip that hopefully will give you some idea of what we encountered and how God used us during this trip.
